Professional Mortgages

I heard a while back that because my wife and I are professionals we may be able to get a professional mortgage that can offer us more money against a lower deposit.

Is this true?

    If you are a doctor or solictor in training some lenders in the past offered large income multipliers such as 5/6X income but that was before the credit crunch!

    it makes very little difference at the moment. The only way it helps is that with your normal deals they feel a little more confident at lending to you so you're less likely to get rejected.

  • scottish widows offer proffesional mortgages at higher rates than other lenders, rubbish ltv's and with low income multiples......which is nice!
    Happily an ex mortgage broker!

    What percentage deposit do you actually have?
  • Check with your respective professional bodies, sometimes these have direct links which will give more info and access to members only. This is the case with the ICAEW.

    A proffesional mortgage is one you don't mess with/knows his stuff

    A student mortgage is one still learning the ropes but will one day become a fully qualified pro.
