OS tips for sore throat?

eurgh I have this very horrible itchy cough, that i can't get rid of. Any home remedies you can offer? i've tried tea with honey and lemon so far.

Gargle with soluble aspirin - always does the trick for me

I gargle with dilute TCP.It tastes horrible but does help.

Drink lots of water!!!! You might be running to the loo, but will help your throat no end!!!!

Hey all,

I am positively evangelical about this tip which I saw on This Morning - research from Japan shows that if you gargle (to the back of your throat) regularly with plain old water it reduces astronomically the number and severity of the sore throats you would otherwise get. I usually get through a bottle of Chloraseptic spray a year and for at least 6 months now I have been sore throat free. Not sure how much it would help once you have a sore throat but it probably would. I think it works on the principle that you get rid of the bad germs etc.
