Help for my brother please

To cut a long story short his wife has left him took the kids and took his 5k life savings. She no longers lives in the family home but is using that address to gain credit cards etc.
We know this for a fact. Were worried as my brother has a very good credit score and theres no way that she can pay back these new cards and loans.
As they are hustband and wife they are associated (sp) together and we have been advised to write a notice of dissasoation (sp) can anyone please tell us what one of these is? Is it right for this situation? Has anyone had any experience of these? What do you write and to whom
Any advice is most welcome and im sorry if this is the wrong board
We are dealing with the 5k and we will get it paid off asap
Thanks in advance

Hi there [STRIKE]nan[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]narabn[/STRIKE] ....I'll call you nbk if thats alright! :p;)

Firstly does he have any joint accounts with his wife (bank or credit agreements). If so he should speak to the banks/creditors about getting these frozen. It will stop her taking all his money or running up overdrafts/limits.

If he doesn't have his own account he should open one and get his wages paid in to that one!

He needs to order the £2 statutory reports from Equifax and Experian to see if he has any financial association with her. My ex was on one of my reports and the only reason I can think of was that she was insured to drive my car.

    https://www.econsumer.equifax.co.uk/consumer/uk/gb_consumerletter.ehtml

    http://www.experian.co.uk/consumer/index.html

If she is on there but they have no financial link then she can be easily removed.

Is her name on a mortgage or anything like that?

Hello and thanks for all your replies
    HIs ex didnt work
The joint account is what shes run up the debt on and also she was his 2nd user on his Bcard but weve sorted that im pretty sure. We have the £2 file from Experian. Nothing looks wrong with it
Shes not on the mortgage but does have her name on some of the bills
Weve opened another account for him with Barclays.
Were pretty sure shes applying for credit at my brothers house and having her post redirected to her new flat. She already told him shes out for all she can get and want half the house and half of everything. Theyve only been married 2 years and he had the house ages before she moved in. It just seams unfair to me that she can have half of everything hes worked hard for. He has always supported her you see

you should make sure you contact the local council and have her removed from the electoral roll at your address if she does not live there.

this should slow her down in being able to get credit at that address.
