Northern Rock None Refundable Mortgage fee!!

I needed a mortgage to purchase a second property whilst my exisitng property was on the market. I needed a mortgage where the lender did not require any proof of permission to let for my existing property as I would not be able to provide this. I enquired with northern rock and they said I did not need this. i told them that I definatley only wanted to apply if they did not need this info and they confirmed that we did not. We applied and they then said we needed to continue on a full status basis and did not explain that I needed to provide the info that I had already told them i was unable to. I paid the application fee and they asked for proof of permission to lend i told them they said i would not need this and aksked for the app to be cancelled and for me to have my money back. They said they would listen to the call with the advisor and refund the money when they could confirm he had given me the wrong info. They said they cant find the call and becasue of that they will not refund my £250 and their justification for keeping it is simply that they can and that I knew it was none refundable. I have put in a formal complaint and after waiting for soem time they have written to me to tell me they will not refund this and that even if they had given me the wrong info that this isn't reason to give me the fee back either. I think this is theft, plain and simple, as the old addage goes...at least !!!!!! turpin wore a mask!!!:money:

If they gave you the wrong information on the call then that means that you have grounds for complaint.

If they can't find a trace of the call that is their problem.

How many calls did you make in relation to the matter? Have they lost all of them?

In response to your formal complaint have they given you leave to respond to their reply?

Or have they said that is the last of the matter?
