Why not try "Square Foot Gardening" by Mel Bartholomew. I had this for Christmas and although some of it is a bit "Americanised" what I have read so far has got me wanting to get out there.
I also grow things in containers and there are a lot of good books out there - just google "vegetable growing in containers". I found some of the more general books about gardening were a bit daunting for my small space. I just adapt the advice to a small vegetable bed.
Alys Fowler's Edible Garden is also another one which interests me. I haven't read it but the series she did was good.

Also get your mitts on How to grow more food than your ever thought on less land that you ..,by John Jeavons. He has been doing some very
interesting stuff based on 100 square foot beds. Needs a bit of adapting to the UK climate.
