    thanks for letting us know:o
    I luv freebies
  • Brilliant, so long as they're not too reliant on RM. I know that Amazon do tend to use alternative couriers for lots of their deliveries. Great deal though!

Is it too late to cancel and re-order? Usually I get about a day or so to cancel the order before it enters the dispatch process. Depends on whether you want the filler item.

thanks crabman, i did try to cancel but both items ready for despatch almost immediately, so will be happy with the second as a stocking filler.

I find the free super saver delivery via Royal Mail very speedy- I had digital scales dispatched 2nd class Monday morning and less than 24 hours later they had been delivered. Not a one-off as i've had similar experiences!

This is great news, although it is always worth checking places like http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/ since they are often cheaper and postage and packing are already included. I used to also try http://www.play.com/ but have found just recently that they haven't been as reliable as they were.

The thing I've noticed recently with Amazon is that their 'Free Delivery' often doesn't arrive by Royal Mail - they use their Home Delivery Service. There's an added bonus here as when the items are sent by RM - they do indeed take 3 - 5 business days, but when sent by Home Delivery they often arrive next day! :T

This news story is extremely unfair to Amazon Marketplace sellers and is not even factual.
"Buy from a third party off the 'Amazon Marketplace' platform and you'll pay postage set by the retailer, not Amazon, which can often be pricey."
I am a Marketplace book seller. I do not set my own postage, Amazon do. It is a set price of £2.75 (even for heavy books which cost in excess of £8.00 for me to send to the customer).
It is not like Ebay, I have no control over how much the customer is charged for the delivery service.
I try to run a fair and efficient business selling through a few different sites. Times are hard enough with the recession and now postal strikes. The last thing Marketplace sellers needed was Money Saving Expert discouraging even more customers with false statements.

That's indeed correct, good for you for spotting it :T. Not often MSE doesn't get it's facts right - but that's the case this time:naughty::naughty:.

Set postage has been £2.75 for a long time now and certainly didn't go up following the increase in postage charges earlier this year:rolleyes:. By the time you factor in the price of good packaging it just doesn't make sense to even advertise heavier items on Amazon Marketplace. Obviously Amazon must have been losing out to Marketplace sellers and have now turned on them.

Maybe we need a forum for Amazon Marketplace sellers so we can organise and find an alternative! ;)

I can only agree with this poster.

My business is hard enough and false staements like the one above about Marketplace sellers and postage can only make it harder for me to compete in the long run.

Can MSE please clarify the statement about the ability of Marketplace sellers to change postage rates as in my case (and most other Marketplace sellers) it is impossible to do this.

Or can MSE, at least, correct the untruth in the original post.

Can it also be done with the same prominence as the original statement?

    Thanks
