Moving in to a buy to let flat

At the end of the day I don't think mortgage lenders are too concerned as long as the mortgage is being paid! It's when payments are missed they may get on your back!Totally without prejudice! All views are those of the individual and at no time should be constituted as advice.0

A buy to let mortgage is nothing more than a commercial business loan. The lender should be rubbing his hands in glee that you are making it a residential property and still keeping a commercial loan on it.FREEDOM IS NOT FREE0

I just thought i would bump this up a bit to see if anybody else has expeerience of this kind of situation, moving in 2 weeks, so still not sure what to do.0

Phone up and ask as a general query without giving your name, at least it will give you an idea of their view on it.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Did it myself for over 2 years in one of mine. Never had a query at all. In fact I even had to have mail from my mortgage company sent to me there because of other properties I had with them. Did it at the time because of a change in jobs and couldn't get the mortgage I wanted but then sorted a new residential one on a new property.
Had the same feelings as yourself as in what was the worst case scenario and should I check with the mortgage company but decided to just go for it. Registered all council tax, bills etc as normal and never had a problem. If maybe you gave a friend/relatives address for a contact address for mortgage correspondence it might take one perceived risk element out of the equation. My feelings are that generally as long as the mortgage payments were all being met on time that it wasn't going to be queried.
Good luck with whatever you decide.0 -
Your wife will need to be registered for council tax, to vote and have the bills and bank statements arrive there in her name. If the bank so chose they could easily find out your wife was living in the flat, better to be up front about it.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Thanks for the info guys, i have been thinking about it again, i have not had a tennent for the last 3 months, as we thought we would be in before now, and nobody has questioned anything, so i may just go along with it for now.
But as a few have said, i will phone up with a general enquiry, i will let you know what they say.0
