Token Payments/Solution Finance

Hiya
I hope I'm posting in the right, and thanks in advance for all of your help!

I am currently assisting my mum, who I found out a month ago has approx £30,000 of unsecured debt. We have been throught the whole acceptance/seeking help scenario, but I have ended up being the one who does all the calls etc due to my mum being a pensioner and also being terrified to talk to anyone about it, in case my Dad finds out. (long story!)

I have a telephone appointment with CCCS on Monday 28th Sept, who I am an authorised person with on my mums account, but on our first telephone appointment, they advised my mum/me to contact all of her creditors and advise them of her situation and to offer an token payment.
I have done this with a couple of creditors, however, they claim that they have never heard of CCCS and that they are not prepared to accept a token payment!!
Has anyone got a template letter/ideas for a letter that I could send to the creditors on behalf of my mum so I have proof that these conversations have happened, and also avoid any further phone calls to others who I have not yet approached?

Also, if theyare refusing to accept the toekn payment, is it likely that they will just keep adding charges, therefore increasing the debt more than she is paying off???? Sorry for all the questions, and I am sure CCCS will help on Monday, just wanted to see how the process usually works with them??

Also, has anyone ever dealt with solution finance, I am trying to contact them to find out card charges against one of her accounts, but they are not replying and i can't get hold of them via phone.

Thanks for all of your help and advice!!!

When you say you have contacted the creditors and they have never heard of CCCS - was this by phone? To be honest I wouldn't bother phoning them at all, you rarely get sense and as you have found it means you don't have proof - here is a template that will help you until you get sorted with CCCS - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=21937969&postcount=54

  • Hi longhaul

looks like Solution Finance are a private company
    http://www.solutionfinanceuk.com/

I don't think anyone on these boards would suggest using a company like this would be a good idea, when the CCCS, CAB and other free services are available and will give you the same advice. Maybe better advice.

Wait until you've had the discussion with CCCS Monday, normally keep clear of any organisation that charges a fee.

    Good luck

    Sal
  • Thanks for that, however, she has previously had a credit card with solution finance, so I will look to see if they are the the same company, as I want to reclaim the credit card charges.
I would never use anyone who charges, especially as CCCS seem so helpful!!!
    Thanks tho

I sent a schedule of charges to the only address I had for solution finance this was forwarded on to Capquest who now own my account. I have been told that Barclaycard took on some of solution finance accounts but everyone seems very cagey when discussing solution finance, no-one seems to want to tell the truth about what has happened to them...they seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth and nobody wants to admit it...WHY?! I have started a new thread on this also Provident who are absolutely awful. I don't know if a claim can be made once your debt has been sold on...any advice gratefully received.
  • Hiya,
Thought I recognised this thread then realised it was mine!!! Doh!!!:rotfl:

I have found out that SF were taken over by Barclaycard and I have obtained statements going back to when it was SF finance card, so I have claimed against Barclaycard for both missold PPI and charges. They are dragging their feet but have just printed the FOS forms to go in the post tomorrow.
As far as I understand it, when a company takes over another (ie Barclaycard taking over SF) they also take over all liabilities etc so they would be responsible for any misselling etc done under FS.
If you are making a claim and need any help give me a shout, have done it against all mum's creditors and have got about £1500 back so far with approx another 5K pending with FOS and second stage letters so well worth doing as the claims against Sf/Barclaycard would both write off the debt and leave money left over!!!:j
