National Insurance Question

Options
Not sure where to post this. Hope its ok in here

Anmyway my girlfirend recieved a letter the other day telling her she needs to pay £402 in NI

The company she works for was bought over by another company in the past year or so.

The letter states that if she doesn't pay it she will loose her state pension entitlement for the past year.

Has anyone experienced this before? And is it the previous company's fault for not deducting enough NI contributions from her wages?

Thanks

    who is the letter from.

Occassionally I used to get letters telling me I hadn't made enough contributions in a financial year, and I could make a voluntary payment to top it off, but it also says how many complete years contributions i had made and how many I need to make to receive the full state pension (30 if my memory serves me correctly)

The letters I received originated from the DWP.

On the payslips from the previous company were they deducting NI ?
