Getting an online account verified so that we can re-mortgage

OH and I are remortgaging and have found a rate etc that works for us. London and Country have been handling it and seems to be pretty on the ball so far. BUT the underwriters are INSISTING that we get our bank transaction records stamped as authentic by our respective banks. First Direct has done it, but Sainsbury's say that they do not do this for anyone....it is after all an online bank. They have offered to send us printed statements which we can forward on, however the underwriter wants to see a stamp verifying them so we are going round and round in circles.
They have suggested we get Lloyds and or Halifax who own S bank to stamp them, but of course, both banks will only do this for their own account holders.
OH said to take the Sainsbury's account out of the equation and use the other information, but again the underwriters will not do this.....
Has anyone come up against this before and how did you handle it?

Thanks,

Hime

Well if Sainsbury printed off the statements and sent them to you would they be on traditional statement paper, with the logo? Have Sainsbury said? or would they just be on plain?

Thanks Mrs Bumble. The docs we sent originally were statements from the Bank! This time we plan to send the envelope too, unopened.....but what you said makes sense... the paper, the logo...

:) Send your own home printed alongside them! Seems a very strange position to take.

Online bank accounts are all around us!
