For favours, I'm doing choccies and had a cunning MSE plan. :money:
Going to order plain white favour boxes online. Then, going to hit Morrisons the day after Christmas. Last year the choccies were all dirt cheap at that point. Had a look the other day and those Lindt round chocolates in the red wrappers are BBE July 2010 so will still be well in date (getting married in June). I'll then tie the boxes with ribbon in a colour that matches the wedding.
For invites, I'm going to make them. I think it's more personal, and I just can't find any online in the style I like.
What bugs me about wedding invites is when you have a beautiful card and inner, then a naff piece of folded paper falls out with all the extra details (travel, accommodation, gift list, etc) typed on. I want to incorporate those into the design of the invite.
So, I'll get some completely blank cards, in a card colour that matches the theme. On the front cover, I'm going to get a nice rubber stamp (wedding themed picture), stamp on cream paper in an ink that complements the card colour and stick that on.
The inside left page will then have a cream paper rectangle stuck on with the usual invite wording.
The inside right page will have a card pocket at the bottom, with all the extra details done as staggered pieces of cream paper with the heading showing, inspired by this:

For place cards I'm just going to have simple folded card, same colour as the invite card, with a cream piece stuck on with the names on.
Not sure how I'll do my table plan yet...
All these plans sound good in my head lol but when I'm knee deep in glue and bits of paper in a couple of months I might be regretting it.0 -
Hi JenJen,
My mum is getting married for the 2nd time after being widowed 2 years ago. We decided that we wanted to put our own touch to the wedding rather than everyone else doing the designing.. the bridesmaid dresses are claret so its best to find out what your dress and the bridesmaids colours will be before you do your favours and invites, we wanted traditonal but different with the favours, Boyes have a wide selection of favour mesh and we filled them with Jelly BeansWe had claret and ivory for the colour scheme and based everything on this. We are having a marquee on the garden which is going to be decorated with ivory and claret 2 tier balloons around the edge and some calla lillies and roses as center peices on the tables. Also i made everyones hair peices etc. The invites we got from Ebay, stunning they were and we also got our place cars from there too 100 for £10.

HI there, I have made all the stationery for my wedding. I love my invites all I did was find as pic I love on google images, printes it on photo paper and stuck it onto ivory cards I got from Ebay. Underneath I stuck three diamantes. For the inside I bought hammered paper inserts and printed my wording using a free template and font I found on the net. On the abck I stuck labels that I had printeed from Ebay with our names, address and phone number for r.s.v.p.'s.
I have made my table plan aswell and I will upload some pics for everyone as soon as I can.

i am making all my own stationery (and anything else that needs making lol)
i will post some photos up when I get home of the bits I have done so far (work computer wont let me do photos lol)
I also make stationery for other people, generally along a vw theme, ill pop some photos up of that too just so you lot can have a nose
i think the best idea is to sit with google images for a couple of hours looking at wedding stationery and save any photos of stuff you like the look of, then get some cards and paper in the colours you like and have a play around ith everything to see how things look in the flesh, and to see how you get on making different thingsMarried on 5th March 2010still lurking on the wedding board tho :rotfl:0 -
The hammered paper is fab, and because it is paper it goes through the printer easily. It comes unfolded and then you just stick it through the printer and then fold it yourself afterwards. I think it gives a lovely finish to the invite and looks more professional. The one I got is very good qualtiy and I think it was only about £1.50 for 50 pieces.I stuck it in the invite by putting a slither of double sided tape on the back next to the fold and then stuck it to the card. It's hard to explain, but looks fab! Everyone says how good they are and they took little effort to make!

I got packs of customizable wedding invite outers from Dunelm Mill for like £2 a box reduced to clear - they were the exterior of the card made, with a gold band to slot your wedding invite inners into... bought some posh paper from Staples (was champagne-coloured metallic), printed out the inners, did a quick spot of hand-embossing at the corners and slotted them in to finish. Then used those print your own business cards in a very similar colour to make RSVP cards, and used the remaining paper to make A5 inserts with maps to venues, postcodes for sat-navs etc so it all tied together and looked the same.
If my mother hadn't found the card outers when she did I was planning on doing iris folding for the invites (google it - it's basically glorified origami with a spot of coloured printering) which would have looked equally effective to be honest.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0
