I want cheap (but still good!) digital cameras for my Wedding...

Hi All,
I am getting married later this Year and instead of the usual disposable camera's on the tables during the meal, I'd like to get some digital ones.
I don't really have a set budget although there will be about 10 or so tables so the cheaper the better!!
I still want the quality to be fairly good though, no point in getting cheap digital cameras if the quality is pants!
Over to the MSE fountain of knowledge...
Cheers

Are you sure that's a good idea? How do you know that at the end of the night that some drunken uncle isnt going to delete all the photos?

Can I ask Why you want digital instead of disposable?!?
Surely it will be a lot more costly having digital cameras, if you drunkenly drop them / spill a drink in them they'll be wrecked etc You'll need 10 lots of batteries, 10 lots of memory cards...
What do you plan to do with them at the end of the night?0 -
You can get cheap digital cameras for just a few quid these days, but they are low-resolution, and have CMOS sensors. In short, they are poor quality, especially if pictures are taken indoors.
I've seen some CMOS digital cameras around the £30-£40 mark that are slightly better (1.3 - 3 megapixels), but still not good enough IMHO.
The next step up will get you a CCD camera around the £70 mark.Of course, I may just be talking b****cks!0 -
Hi all,
Thanks for all your replies.
The main reason going for the digital camera's was for the picture quality. I didn't mind treating the digi cam's as 'disposable' in other words to bin em' after the event as long as the pic's were all saved and of better quality than a normal disposable camera.
As I suspected however, the quality of the cheaper digi cam's probably isn't better if at all than disposable ones. The only way of doing it would be to get more expensive digi cam's (£70+) but I'm afraid that's too expensive for me!!
Looks like I'll end up going down the disposable route.
Thanks to all once again for their replies.
Cheers

I think thats probably best mate.
People will probs have their own digital cameras anyway, then the disposable cameras are not meant to be amazing quality, just for those little moments when the official photographer isn't there and that must see moment happens!!
Good luck for the big day!0 -
Most people will take their own cameras why not arrange for everyone to upload to a photo storage site like "flipside" so you could order prints or even a cd to record the day?0

The quality of disposable cameras is really not too bad. Way better than a cheap digital camera. People seem to imagine digital quality is much better than it really is tbh. 35mil film is also much more immediate. You can really take a photo in an instant which you can't with a digital camera, there's a noticeable lag. If you want good quality try to get fujifim disposable cameras, they make better film. If you can't find fujifilm don't waste your money on kodak, just buy boots or superdrug ownbrand, kodak is no better. Make sure you get cameras with a flash or you'll have nothing out of them.0

S'true, digital sensors are far less forgiving than film when it comes to bad optics. So when you consider all the other bits that a digicam has to fit in, £ for £ you'll do much better on a film camera (disposable or otherwise)0
