Cancelling my PPI with A&L...

I wrote off to A&L to cancel my PPI. The first letter came back and said that as the PPI was for the duration of the loan then they had to cancel the loan and then restructure a new loan. There was no details as to APR's of the new loan just an amount to pay each month (about £18 less than I have been paying).
I wrote back to them and told them that (a) I wouldn't sign a loan agreement without first seeing the details and (b) that according to their terms and conditions that at their discretion they could offer a refund on the PPI which I claim we were due as we believed we were mis-sold the policy.
I got a letter today from them and it says that they're sorry we feel this way and how were we mis-sold the policy.
Has anyone any advice as to word the letter back. We were not really given the choice as to whether or not to buy the policy, we were told as it was such a large amount that we had to get the PPi (£16K) also I have been told here (but I'm not sure why) that because we are self employed then PPI is not applicable for us.
Any help would be gratefully received:o

Read the T&Cs to confirm the fact that the PPI doesnt cover self employed.
Worst thing you can do is give two reasons for wanting to cancel and they then come back to you stating that one of them is invalid. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
