It will cost you a few hundred to get a name registered. Then you will need an accountant to do your accounts each year and submit to company house? You will also need a company secretary. Not too difficult but is it worth the hassle at such an early stage??Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -
Thanks for that i don't suppose you know now where i can join an already registered company?0

You can set up a company for less than £40 using Formationsdirect dot com or stanleydavis dot co dot uk. I've never tried them them so feel free to use google to find others who provide similar services. These are probably off the shelf companies ie standard companies with standard documentation (memorandum and articles of association etc).
All you then need to do is to visit Companies House website and print off a change of name form to change the company name to what you want as long as no other company has the same name. Each year you need to pay £15 to Companies House.
If you do set up a company you will protect your own personal assets as any claims against the company are restricted to the company's assets whereas if you are a soletrader and you are sued you could potentially lose your house.
Companies are slightly more expensive as you will need an accountant to prepare your accounts but if you are looking to borrow money the banks will expect you to have an accountant prepare accounts and audit them for you. If you don't they are unlikely to be as willing to lend you money.
For info on accountants visit accaglobal dot com or look in yellow pages. The smaller the firm the cheaper they are likely but the quality MAY not be as good - it all really depends what you need them to do and how complicated your business is going to be.0 -

A few hundred quid? Are you having a laugh? It costs next to nothing. You can do it yourself for the registration cost or get a 3rd party to do it fo £30-£40, ive used https://www.company-wizard.co.uk its easy, cheap an fast.
You dont need an accountant to file the accounts, most small businesses are exempt from submitting full accounts, its a 1 sheet jobby showing profit and loss etc.
you also no longer need a company secretary, it was changed a while ago, you only need 1 person as a director:beer:0 -
It cost me around £20.
BUT.....I would read the Arise thread before going for it!
