The Reality of Working for a Supermarket in 2009/Return to Victorian Britain

Example may be commision only sales rep, knocking doors to get people to change their elec supplier etc. Fairly easy to get into as most drop out within a month. The ones that do well tend to get promoted very quick.
Language is a bit of a problem. Almost fluent but knocking on doors would be a very risky business for someone who is struggling to pay the rent. I can see your point if someone has the gift of selling but not everyone can easily do it.The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -

I think people should refuse to work for less than minimum wage, as long as hoards of peopleare willing to do so these dodgy companies will keep getting away with this.
You're right, Tesco is a dodgy company. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
Worked for a major supermarket depot near Reading. All I saw for a month was bottled water! aghaghagha
Seriously, if you work hard you get rewarded. I've never met anyone who wasnt, only those who beleive they are worth more than they are.
WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP.....There are far too many people working very very hard and not getting their reward in every company......exploitation of a fellow human being is wrong in so many ways and anyone who pays a person over 20 years old minimum wage does not for me deserve to be running a slave business.
Hard working people do not get rewarded unless they are partners.. can you tell me how many hard working people have lost their jobs in this recession??? i would say very many..It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -

Multinational companies have a choice about exploiting workers but everyone wears clothes, dont they? :rolleyes:The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -

You can choose to make them yourself or buy only from ethical retailers, but most don't cos it costs moreThe proof that some people really are opinionated and ignorant

I'm now wondering whether to report the practices of this branch to the TUC
Contact ACAS and ask their advice.
I am grateful that the lack of empathy shown by some on this thread does not represent the views of the majority of my fellow countrymen.Retail is the only therapy that works0 -
Think about where the clothes/coffee/food often comes from.
Or since it isnt inside out 'tribe', it's ok?
No, its not okay, but the difference is that people drink coffee, wear clothes as part of daily life. Most of them exploit unintentionally some perhaps are aware.
Big multinational companies think up ways to deliberately exploit people to increase their profits and already immense wealth. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
