Dental Help needed please

My friend needs to get a an impression for some dentures, she knows someone who works in the industry who can make them for her but she needs to get an impression to her. My friend is not registered at a dental practice and is finding it extremely difficult to get one, no one in the area are taking on nhs patients. She is on benefits and has very little spare cash, is there anywhere she can go to get this impression done and does anyone know the cost????

Sorry for the garbled thread

If the person 'in the industry' is a registered clinical technician, then that person should be able to take the impressions.

If the person isn't a 'clinical' technician, then they won't, but neither will they be allowed to do the bite registration stage, or the try in, or the fitting and adjusting - basically, they're not allowed to put their fingers in someone's mouth, which is the defenition of 'performing dentistry'.

I personally would be very uncomfortable just taking an impression for someone who walked in off the street - as nomatter what agreement I came to with the patient, legally, the responsibility for the treatment would be mine. That would be just too much of a minefield.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
  • I doubt she will be, I will tell her what you have said. I think she is just desperate to get a quick fix
