Just watched this last night as after the retune discovered we now have Virgin1. Enjoyed the programme bit like Come Dine With Me but I did feel the couple with a huge kitchen, huge house and army of helpers was bound to win compared to the other couple working in a kitchen not even big enough for the two of them.

I also watched the Jamie Oliver version and really enjoyed that, in fact I've loved this whole series of Jamie Oliver especially when he was in Louisiana.

Last week's episode was funny, although it really would get on my nerves trying to get rid of a load of drunken and disorderly diners afterwards, you could see the contestants stress levels were high!

Just watched the trailer for this week (tonight's episode) and it looks like its going to be pretty entertaining, from what I could gather it looks like one couple have stocked up on Iceland's party '2 for a fiver' range and one couple look like they are serving people in their cars!?

  • I am new to the forum but this thread caught my eye as I have watched the last couple of episodes!

I think its a great idea for a TV show, not sure whether I would have the time or the patience to set up a restaurant in my own home though. I have seen some info about tomorrows episode and one of the couples are going to be serving 12 courses! I can't believe this is even possible in the average home kitchen! Will be interesting to see how it goes.
  • These are called pop-up restaurants and the whol idea is not really to make money, but rather meet new people/ have new experiences. They are very popular in Cuba as a way for locals to make some dollars from tourists, and for tourists to experience real Cuba

I looked into doing it as I live in a very international tourist (mainly US and Japanese) area here in the UK but my husband was less enamoured about having strangers in our house unfortunately!

Yep it sounds like a kitchen nightmare but from the looks of things they seem to have a large kitchen so at least thats something - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6Fe5OziBYg - at least I hope thats the kitchen of the couple who are serving 12 courses!
  • Well they actually did really well! I thought it would be a total disaster.

I see they have put all the recipes up on that link you gave in the OP.Might have to try out that chocolate mousse :)

It has inspired me to go and try out one of the pop ups in London so I am going to book for me and my girlfriends for next month. Theres quite a few to choose from by the looks of things. I suppose that in the real world without the competition element there should be much less people and less chance of error/disaster and generally a better service/experience, at least I hope so!

haha yeah definitely could do without the pet hairs. yuk.

Really enjoyed thursdays episode, not sure how many episodes there are in the series but this week's is number 6 - saw the trailer go up on the FB page.

Looks like another good episode - the Bollywood theme looks really fun - in the trailer there are dances and people doing henna tattoos and everything, looks like they really went all out!
  • Ah I thought the girls put on a great evening - certainly looked like they put a lot of effort into int what with the henna etc going on. Am I right in thinking its the penultimate episode tonight? Noticed a trailer go up on Facebook earlier this week and I think it said episode 7.

I was really enjoying this on Thursdays. Hope they do another series!
