You will need Goods In Transit Insurance, ( friend of mine paid £1400, that's approx £27 p.w. ) you may also need Public Liability Insurance. At 65p per parcel DHL are relying on mugs to do this.
Thanks but i don't consider myself a mug
I was just trying to find a job that fits with kids and earn an income, small maybe but if i had a real job i'd only be throwing it away on childcare, so therefore no better off
Unfortunatley we can't all do our dream job.0 -
Clairibel, have you considered being an exam invigilator? If you call around your local secondary schools now you might find one or two that need invigilators. My son came home with a school newsletter asking for people to do it. Our local authority pays £8.32 an hour and exams take place Nov, MArch, May and June.
Also lots of after school clubs need play workers. You dont need to be qualified as they will usually get you to do your NVQ on the job. Thats how I started and I can have my own children with me even though the older one is now at secondary.
Hope this helps.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -
I can imagine some people not answering the door though as you would have no van.0

I'm afraid I've been a bit lazy. Still got to look at the the other threads.
Just become unemployed and now on glorious JSA. But if I did this properly I would be coming out with less than JSA.
I think they are relying on people willing to take a risk - ie no proper insurance, not declaring for tax etc. And I can imagine the frustrations. I live in the middle of a row of rural cottages. Neighbour used to get a lot of deliveries and I stopped taking them in for him when he never even bothered to say thank you. So when his delivery came, I used to hide as they knocked on all the doors. Must have been frustrating for the delivery man - I never saw it from his point of view!0 -

I have been a DHL @ Home for 2 years now , I dont make lots out of it but I do find the job enjoyable and flexible. I cant remember all the details that DHL mention about insurance (havent got my paperwork to hand at the moment) but as far as I can remember you have to declare to your insurer that you are using your vehicle for courier work but actual goods cover is dealt with my DHL , please dont quote me on this though! My insurance is with Prudential and they dont charge any extra , however I have tried other insurance companies , some would not even entertain insurance and some wanted to charge more.
Slm6002 - good luck, if I can help at all please PM me.0
