A few people have asked what DH and I would like as a gift for our wedding anniversary/marriage blessing.

Would it be weird if we asked them to make a donation to the Church instead?
If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!

I don't think it would, we have set up a 'Just Giving' page for our wedding guests as we would rather a charity have some money than us another toaster :rotfl:

Most of our guests think its a great idea!

As long as you don't write it on the invite I think it's a great idea.
  • You can ask friend and family to make contributions to your chosen cause through the online gift list website Whatidlove. It's simple and free, just register, set-up the list and email to your guests. YOu can then donate all the money collected to your church.

    Have a great wedding anniversary!

I've never heard of whatidlove but personally would go with justgiving as they are an established website and loads of people use it so you know it is safe. I think it is such a lovely idea to give it to your church! xxx

    Just for clarity:
There is no cost to the charity at all, the site funds itself by claiming the Gift Aid from the goverment and taking a small percentage of that. Therefore if you donate £1 the charity gets £1, but if you gift aid it the goverment gives back tax of around 22p and Justgiving take a small percentage of that and the rest goes to charity. The charity we have chosen is a very very small one (actually run by one person!!) Hope that helps.
