Ulster Bank Savings Accounts

According to Moneyfacts, both RBS and its NatWest subsidiary are offering a monthly savings account paying 5% gross.
I can find no sign of a similar product on the Ulster Bank website even though Ulster Bank is also part of RBS.
Before complaining that it's not fair, consider why Ulster Bank doesn't need to offer anything so attractive.
Is it because there are lots of woolly creatures among its customers who just stick their money in whatever account the bank recommends or, even worse, just leave large balances in their current accounts? If the Ulster Bank can get enough money for nothing why pay for it.
Do we get the banks we deserve?
Fortunately, the Halifax is offering an account that is just as good although you have to open another savings account at the same time.

Unfortunately, Doire, it seems like they do.
It looks as if Martin has not reached an awful lot of people here. Even people who post here appear to have never looked at Martin's site.
Are they:
(1) just ignorant of the alternatives or
(2) just not interested or
(3) couldn't care less
The trouble is that bad consumers, if there are enough of them, make life more expensive for the rest of us because they weaken the incentive of retailers and financial service providers to offer better deals.0
