Anyone got any nice recipes/ideas for omlette fillings?
I'm thinking bacon and sun dried tomato. Does that sound rotten? :undecided

Yes, I saute them off first in the omlette pan, then put them in a low oven to keep warm, then cook your omlette, when nearly done, put your mixture in, then fold omlette over on itself, Yum, I always put a bit of cheese in too.

Got me humgry now:rotfl:grocery challenge Sept 2012 £21/£3990 -
then put them in a low oven to keep warm,
If I were adding peppers/onions, I might do them raw or softened. If raw I'd chop them smaller (they'd be crunchy), if softened then being small wouldn't be so much of an issue. I'd just fry them in a pan for a bit to soften them, then tip them out into a saucer, make the omelette in that same pan, then tip them from the saucer into the omelette at the right time. If it were meat/mushrooms, I'd definitely pre-cook them, but just have them on a saucer to one side while the omelette got going.0 -
mushrooms, green pepper (or red or yellow I suppose), ham, onion, cheese. I used to work in a place that put all these plus shredded hash browns (cooked first) right in the omelet - was quite tastyMSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

My oven takes 20 minutes to warm up to warm (30 minutes for 200 degrees) - an omelette takes about 4 minutes to cook from start to finish ... there'd be no need to keep them warm. They'd stay warm just in the pan on another ring, or even just put to one side for 4 minutes.
.
Ahhh but im making omlettes for the whole family, so keep them warm, then add a bit to each omletteand my gas oven takes minutes to warm up.

I tend to use up all the leftovers in the fridge, ranging from spring onions, tomatoes, cooking onions, hard dried up bits of cheese grated, and bits of bacon or ham, peppers, frozen peas defrosted in micro, broccolli florets - just about you name it and I will add it in, I saute the veg and meats first then add the eggmixture over the top sprinkle on cheese/place tomatoes etc if using, allow it to set and start bubbling then pop it under the grill to finish off - lovely!! total cost in all about 50p and cleans out the fridge without any waste!!!Every days a School day!0
