Endowment Claim against Solicitor

When I took out my Mortgage with the Halifax Building Society, my solicitor who performed the conveyancing told me that he would not charge me any conveyancing costs if his internal financial advisor could sort out my endowment with Standard Life. As I was in my young 20's and single and financially naive I accepted as I thought that I was saving money. Now I have wriiten to them re mis-selling the Endowment Policy and they have rejected it. I have contacted the Financial Ombudsmen who have told me that they do not cover Solicitors so I need to know whether It is still worth me pursueing this ? Has anyone else come across this problem and found a way through ?
