Jewellers in Belfast (Enlanders specifically)

Hi, I'm a newbie poster to the forum but have been a visitor on this site for quite and while. Sorry to ask a question on my first post but I would like some advice on jewellers in Belfast.

I am currently looking for an engagement ring. I have seen a ring I like in Enlanders in Corn Market. Does anybody have any experience of this shop - either good or bad?

Any suggestions on where to look for an engagement ring would be most appreciate.

Thanks.

  • I've found Joseph Rea (around the same area) is really good quality and value If you compare like with like.
    Good luck!
  • Honkycat, thanks for the reply. I went in to Joseph Rea's and they have a vast selection. I agree with you that their jewellery does seem very good quaility and value for money. The staff and service were also excellent.

They have 50% off all diamond rings at the minute if anyone else is looking. It's not clear from the signs in the window but the discount does apply to all rings.

    Thanks.
  • We got my engagement ring from Joseph Rea, very reasonable price, beautiful ring and we were very happy until we went back to them to get my wedding ring made. Told the guy what we wanted and he couldn't have been less helpful at all. Really unimpressed and took our business elsewhere.

    Hi,

I got my fiancee's ring in Gardeners wholesalers in Waring street if that's of any help to you. They sell at cost price so you might avoid the mark up that some places have.
    Regards, Robin.

I think you were unlucky there.... we've always found them to be very helpful.. and knowledgeable. I suppose everyone has off days.

Joseph Rea is famous for having 50% discount on all their diamonds, when infact that is just the price the charge. A friend in the know once said Joseph Rea was not allowed to join the Belfast Chamber of Traders as their practices were frowned on.

I think that might be because they operate technically as a wholesaler which allows them to sell at prices other traders find hard to match... thus annoying other traders. If you compare the same ring with the same CCC, you'll find their prices really good. I spent ages going round a lot of shops on a couple of occasions and always ended up buying there.

Enlanders has been in Belfast for about 70 years & has always been a good place for those of us who don't like paying the ticket price!! Super customer service too, I needed to get a valuation on my mum's jewellery for probate & because I mentioned that her engagement ring had been purchased in the shop, Mr Enlander didn't charge me for it. As long as you say those magic words " whats the best price you can do this for? " I reckon you will get a good deal:j

I got mine there too, it's a wholesaler but as long as you aren't bothered about "keeping up with appearances" and saying "oh i got it from [insert expensive jewellers here] who really cares? I haven't seen a ring with the equivalent colour/clarity/cut and precious metal combo for less than £450 more than what we paid.
  • i would definitly try https://www.77diamonds.com

just proposed to my gf last week and they are half the price you would see in any of the shops in belfast. really good service too. cant rate these highly enough. the mark up in the shops is outrageous. 77diamonds is based in london and you would see their jewellry in ok magazine etc with famous people wearing them for photo shoots
