    You would need to check the small print of the policy.

    But ... most insurers would argue that you still have employment, so why would they pay out for unemployment?

    To be paid out on unemployment, you would need to sign on for benefits and get the benefits agency to complete a form confirming you are unemployed and qualify for benefits. With a second job, they are not going to do that and that and that kills any claim for unemployment.

    I have two jobs and am currently claiming off my mortgage insurance since being made redundant from job no.1. The second job is less than 16 hours per week which means I qualify for job seekers allowance and because of this, I can claim on the insurance. The Job Centre have to sign a form every month which I send to the Ins Co, confirming that I am still claiming JSA.

    Good example of an exempt case beanie. However, I suspect that wont work in this case as the OP is self employed. Self employed is not measured by hours.
