HELP advice needed

Options
Hi all, i am in the process of applying for a mortgage for my aunties house who is moving to scotland from yorkshire next week, via a IFA, i have a poor credit rating, the IFV has been very positive about me getting a mortgage but it feels like he now dragging his feet, i have been on the phone to him every day for the past week, trying to chase up the mortgage, he has had to re-submit the forms and all the paper work last week as he said they were lost in the post when he sent them to the mortgage company, i'm now 3-4 weeks into first applying for the mortgage and feel no further forward.

Then to to add more stress to the situation i have just been offered a council house after waiting 3 years, if i accpet i move in on monday, but then will have to pay 1 months rent on the house i'm in at the moment, 1 months on the council house plus Ctax on both and will have to give up one of my jobs due to location and lack of transport which means i will loses about £1000 in a month.

I don't know what to do i really need to get my family out of the house we are in at the moment as it is in such a state of disrepair, but don't want to lose that much money as i only take home about £900 pm anyway.

What do i do any advice will be greatfully accepted

confused, are you moving to scotland or your aunt?

Why are you buying one house and looking to rent a council house at the same time?

  • it's my aunt who is moving.

i'm trying to keep all my options open, i have been on the council housing list now for three years, i have two kids and one on the way, but live in a two bed room house that is falling apart at the seams. i need to move asap, my aunts move is a quick decision on her part. so basically everything has landed at once, plus i have the poor credit rating so was unsure if i would get the mortgage.

If you accept the council house is there a minimum tenancy period? If not, you could accept the council house and if you manage to get a mortgage on you aunts house you can give up the council tenancy pretty quickly

Also, you need to consider what happens if you refuse the council house. Most council's allow you 2-3 refusals before you go down the list again.
