As your coming off benefits, the Job Centre will help with forms etc, re tax credits.

Congratulations on the new job xx

I still be on benefits because its a work trial that lasts 1 week and afer that first week and all goes well the job is mine. I got help yesterday with fares and food allowances which is only £35 but its better than nothing.

Some might say its slave labour but next friday the job may be mine and then I will sign off benefits.

so its worth a try better than sitting at home.
  • congratulations, and good luck!

Today I was searching for jobs as normal, just sending out my cv to many places.
Sent my cv for a job at 12.20pm and thought nothing of it, well today got a phone call left on my answer machine from the company I sent my CV to.This call was at 1.20pm I was so surprised so I called him back and had a good conversation and he has invited me to an interview 11 am tomorrow. All this happening on one day is good news.

Its just factory work but full time. Its better than benefits Iam sure.

Will let you Guys know how I get on tomorrow when I get home.Sounds good as at the moment i am waiting for my JSA3 to be processed and I dont have any money.

You know good things happen after Bad.:j

Good luck to everyone for their job search as I have noticed alot of more full time jobs being advertized.Found this job on the job centre site.

    Congratulations:beer:

Must be a relief after being off for 7 months. I have been looking for work for 7 months now and its driving me crazy

    Well done:j

Well Today I have some very bad news.As i explained i got the job and it was for a week trial only. I was promised by the job centre that I would recieve £35 today in my account Guess what!!No payment so i could not affored to attend the work this morning:confused: phoned jobcente and explained this i was asked to come in to sign on etc.The payment was put in today but takes 3 days to clear so iam stuffed!!! I needed this money for fares!!!

I emailed the company and explained this and I have no reply from them guess they wont bother even too because they will just start someone new.

I went yesterday and was standing all day and only had 30 minites lunch break that cant be right ? Had to get 2 buses there and back home again .

The advisor said I have to pay this £35 back like hell i dont have any money and i need this money for food etc until I get my JSA3 sorted out!!!

She also said my benefits may be affected because i did not attend today.
Iam already in alot of debt as it is!! so one more problem is not gonna make much differences.
Iam trying my best to get back into work again but the job center messed up big time . !!!! this country.
  • Why did you email the company and not phone to explain why you couldn't be in! I'd be pretty annoyed if someone didn't even have the courtesty to telephone and actually talk to me just send an email! What if they didn't check the email until after they were already expecting you to be there.

As to only having a break of 30 minutes - statutory requirements are that you have a minimum 20 minute break if you work a shift of 6 hours or more.

Hope you do get to explain and maybe they give you another chance but next time don't just not turn up and expect an email to be an ok method of communication.

I don't expect to be given another chance because its too late now anyway. I emailed them because i find it embrassing to tell him i could not afford bus fares.I do have a stammer and even if did call I'd get myself into a state. I don't think i be applying for any more jobs until i have money behind me cant rely on the jobcentre for processing payments!!! whats done is done !!! Theres nothing I can do about it now.Even if he does contact me and says he don't want me back I will thank him for given me the work trial and wish him every success in his business.
