Small claims court help needed!

Hi all,

Been a while since I've posted on here (lots seems to have changed!) but I need some help/advice and I'm not sure I've posted in the right place but I know how friendly this board is so thought this was as good a place as any :D

My ex owes me almost £3k from when we were together, I filed a claim with the small claims court online to get this back, he ignored it, they ruled in my favour :j

However he has now since moved in with his new girlfriend and of course as it wasn't a very friendly split (I dumped him for being a sponger!) I don't have his new address.

I've rung the people at the small claims and explained this, they weren't very helpful and told me they can't do anything if he's not living there anymore.

I know he received the initial letter (the wonders of facebook) and it was sent to his parents address, where he is still registered as living. He has until 3rd october to pay his first installment which I already know he won't do as I emailed him and got ignored. The people at the small claims have said they need an address to send the bailiffs round so I need to know where he is living now.

I don't know where he is working either.

Aside from knocking on every door in the village he lives in does anyone know anything that may help me as I really don't want to let him get away with this.
Trying to sort my life out, and I'm going to get there!

The Court bailiffs should be very experienced in tracing debtors.
  • GeorgeUK, no I don't know where he works, he's had so many jobs you wouldn't believe! He is currently working, do I need to find this out too? An attachment of earnings would be helpful for me.

Trollfever do you think I'm worrying over nothing and should just leave it to the bailiffs?

Surely they should be able to trace him if they have his previous address and D.O.B. wouldn't they be able to use his national insurance number to find out where he is working?

I'm just worried because of the very unhelpful people I spoke to on the phone, they were useless!

Just an update on my case, the ex is now paying me £300 a month and I've had £625 out of him so far! This all happened as I sent the bailiffs round to his parents house where he was registered as living.
    I'm a happy girl!

Shame the bailiffs didn't catch up with him, A bailiff came to see us about an employee that had left and said they can sort out the attachment of earnings and employers take a very dim view of it, it can be a sackable offence. Glad to hear you are getting your money back.

Lexxi I don't want him to get the sack I want him to stay in employment till he's paid me back! It's taken me 2.5 years to start getting money out of him as it is lol.

never-in-doubt, damn right! He was giving me all the talk about offering to pay me £5 a month and that the court would make me accept it!
