MCS f&f accepted, advice please!!!

Hi,

After much negotiation i managed to get MCS (hsbc!) to accept £7500 on a £17,800 debt, but would appreciate anybody who has delt with them to have a loojk at wording on there letter as im a bit dubious as wether or not im water tight for any come backs!

it reads:-

we confirm we are prepaired to accept £7.500.00 in settlement of this account.

blah blah blah (just how to make payment)

when your payment has cleared, we will notify the relivent credit referance agencies to mark you account as satisfied any default registration relating to this account,

i called them to ask if they could rewrite the letter to add that the account would not be passed on to any other agency, or that no other agency would contact me for the outstanding amount on this debt, but was told that was not possable and the letter was a standard computer generated letter, and all that information came with a settlement letter after the account was paid.

so anyone paid a full and final to these, any chance of anyone chasing me for the balance 6 months down the line or are they pretty honest (!)

thanks

Don't know the answer to your question, but fingers crossed for you. That's a great settlement. :j

I really don't understand why these companies are so reluctant to use the phrase 'full and final'.

Try asking again - it sounds like the person you spoke to was just making it up as he went along.

I thought that unless they actually write 'Full & Final' it isn't F&F and they can chase you for the rest later?

You want the letter to state it is a "full and final" settlement and that you will be absolved from any further liability. If they don't agree to this then i would suggest making a written request that this be put in a letter for you.
