In the last 3 months my credit rating is certainly hammered due to CC applications in succession and credit searches.
February- Got my Egg Money card and stooz my Amazon card
March- Applied for Nationwide Flex Account and was successful
April-Applied HSBC CC via branch also successful and also being stoozed
- last week of April applied Amex Platinum as an upgrade also got accepted and just awaiting for card.
Also in April I received a letter from Capital One with their offer of 0% till Aug. 2007 with a handling
of 2%. Having escaped from any handling fees in the past I guess I need to face reality that there are only few cards in the market that are fees free. What do experienced stoozers think, should I go for it? or cool down a little bit to avoid future rejections. Any insights is greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Firstly the Nationwide flex account application(assuming that is what you meant and you didn't mean the Nwide CC) wont affect your credit rating, but now you have it, if you do spend abroad the CC is worth applying for and they will be more lenient as you have an account with them.
There are still fee free cards out there, but you do need to space your applications as you're going to need to BT when your HSBC and Amazon promo periods expire; personally I would wait until end of June then start looking for a replacement for the Amazon promo. If you are really concerned about your credit rating, get a report from Experian0 -
HGLTsuperstar thanks for your reply. My Amazon card promo rate ends this month and once I'll receive my Amex platinum I will close and cancel both Blue and Amazon cards. I know that I've read some of the posts in here that halifax are not quite good at extending offers but I will try. When will it appear close and settled in CRA reports if I'll close these cards this month?

Hard to say, some can take months especially as some dont CLOSE your account but just FREEZE IT, so get written confirmation the account has been closed. As said, to be sure its settled, you need to get a copy of your credit report.0

I have closed my Amazon card today and as what most of the previous posts in here Halifax are not keen on extending their promo period or give any other offers so I ask to close and cancel the card and request for confirmation letter that my account is closed.I did also requested to inform the relevant credit agencies and he said that they will do that at the end of the month. Maybe need to get a credit report last week of June as I have just closed my Amex Blue yesterday.0

If ever my wife is successful on her first credit card application, can she request to balance transfer the balances on my card to her new card? Sorry if it's a repeat post. many thanks.0
