Bizarre loan statement

Hi all, I've just had a strange statement from Egg. It's the first statement I've had since the loan was taken out in 2004, when I was at a different address. The loan was sold on to a debt collection agency, and has gone through at least 4 of them so far, so I don't see why the OC would suddenly be sending me a statement? Also, I asked for a CCA nearly 18 months ago, which hasn't been sent.
The statement has a loan summary, with interest and things on it. Then transaction details:
Opening balance, amount 0.00
no transactions since last statement amount 0.00
total interest accrued this year -0.00
closing balance -137.50
There's been no payments made to Egg for this account for over 3 years, and none made to a DCA for about 18 months. the closing balance makes no sense - I've been chased for an amount of around 4.5k.
It's not asking for payment or anything either!
I'm not really worried about it, just think it's bizarre and wondered if anyone could shed any light on it?

About the only thing i can think of is the CCA2006 Amendments.
All credit agreements from 1st October 2008 must supply a statement. This would include any loans.
There may have been a small amount of interest still to be applied to the debt before Egg sold the debt on to one of the DCA's which may be why this balance is so small. I would think it would confuse the hell out of any DCA trying to collect the debt though when you tell them you have a statement stating that there is only 137.50 outstanding and not 4.5k
Even though a debt may be with a DCA, if it falls under the CCA legislation, they are still required to provide an annual statement for the debt. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Ah, that makes sense, even if it's a bit bizarre! As long as they still can't find the CCA I don't mind.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

I've just had a thought, if I have a statement from egg saying that there's £137 owing on that account, could I just make a f&f arrangement with Egg for that amount and that be the end of it? Then if any DCA's get in touch, I can just tell them the debt's settled? It seems a more foolproof idea than just telling DCA's it's in dispute because of the CCA being missing.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

How long before the debt becomes statute barred?
If it was me, i would tell any DCA that came calling that the debt was in dispute as there was no CCA and also that you have a statement showing that there is only £137 owed.
That should make them drop it as fast as they can. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

About 4 1/2 years unfortunately. You're right, I'll just use this statement to my advantage. Although I've not heard anything about it from DCA's in nearly a year, so maybe they've got the hint about the dispute anyway.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

We can hope so - i'd still be wary about making any payment, unless of course a DCA stated that they would accept a F&F offer on the 4.5k for about £100. I think that would be fair
