Bill Bailey

The wife & I missed seeing Bill Bailey last year when he was at the Queens Festival so when we heard he was coming back this year we thought happy days lets get some tickets ... now for the money saving bit ... don't bother because at £60 each :eek::eek: even I a frequent gig goer would struggle to find value for money in that.

Clearly the recession is over if acts think they can charge this and get away with it. Snow Patrols upcoming tour at £51 a ticket was pushing my limits but my wife loves them so I gave in (to think I used to see Gary everyday in class for nothing and not once did he sing to me ).

Rant over but technically a money saving lesson

  • Gigs have become a luxury nowadays, Cant believe Snow Patrol are £51  Green Day was only £40 i think. First time i saw Green Day it was only £3, come to think of it first time i saw snow Patrol they were supporting The Levellers and that ticket was only £5. The one that sent me over the top was The Specials at £35 :eek::eek: Ive started going to see local bands now, some great talent on offer here in NI, Gig of the year was last week at Maddens in Antrim The Urban Crime Spree and 3 or 4 other bands for a couple of quid

Gigs have become a luxury nowadays,

Tell me about it, my 1st gig was Kiss on October 3rd '88 in the Kings hall and from memory cost me about £12 nowadays you'll spend that on a few beers at the gig. Cold Play in Wembley at the weekend saw £7.50 burger & chips but it's okay you got a free (soft) drink otherwise beer was £4 a pint.

Going to Greenday myself ... and Biffy Clyro and Michael McIntyre & Kiss tribute band in Empire ... busy 10 days in October :D

Arent they on the same night?
  • Am off to see Green Day as well and can't wait! Though can't believe it's £60 for Bill Bailey - we went to see him at the festival last year and it was no where near that.

My first gig was to see A-Ha in the Kings Hall in 1987 at the age of nine and in true moneysaving fashion I won the tickets!

  • I have to say my immediate thought when I saw the cost of the Bill Bailey tix was "I think I'll wait for the DVD at £10 and save me £110 change".....ridiculous.

Incidentally, apparently the tix are 44 euro for the Dublin show - still dear but, if you can get down and up, might save someone a few pounds!

Going to see Green Day myself - first saw them in the Ulster Hall in 1998 and have seen them 5 times since.....they are the only artists I'd pay £60 to see!
Life in this world is, as it were, a sojourn in a cave. What can we know of reality? For all we can see of the true nature of existence is, shall we say, no more than bewildering and amusing shadows cast upon the inner wall of the cave by the unseen blinding light of absolute truth, from which we may or may not deduce some glimmer of veracity, and we as troglodyte seekers of wisdom can only lift our voices to the unseen and say humbly "Go on, do deformed rabbit again.....it's my favourite". © Terry Pratchett in "Small Gods"

Don't they have different price bands then? The Bill Bailey show in Brum has £25 tickets. Although having said that they're up in the gods and you'd probably need the hubble telescope to actually see anything.
It's the extra charges like the "booking fee" that get me every time.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • Go see Eddie Izzard or Michael McIntyre instead - only £33 each and Eddie especially is well worth the money
