Stain Removal

Hi, I hope you can help!!
This morning I managed to get blood on my carpet (dont ask) Now I live in rented accommodation and ive got an inspection tommorow eek so obviously need the stains removed asap. Also as its the middle of the month im absoluley skint so Im hoping theres some easy solution for removing it by using stuff that ive got in the house.
Does anyone know a foolproof way to remove blood?

Soak and sponge with cold water. Use an old towel.0
