  • Sorry TF, I was comparing it to the £450 we spend on 2 adults & 3 children in reality, not what the OR will allow :o

Yep!! :D We're the same. I am getting mine down slowly but I have to say it is not as low as you have managed yet. I am getting to between £450 and £500 for the 5 of us now and even then it's mostly near the £500 mark. But I am chuffed as at one point it was nearly at £700 . I can't believe how much we used to waste.

  • Just a thought on allowances, £400 pcm for 2 Adults fine, was just thinking how much the government allows 2 Adults to live on when there unemployed and on JSA, good job the OR dont think down that route or we would be on the breadline and most deffo in more debt, the OR allowances are quite generous for shopping/grocereries or am I gonna be shot down in flames here?

Just adding the footnote Im a mean frugalistic type because of my income being so low so maybe £400 pcm for two adults to a spend as you like person might not be enough...

Nope you are not going to get shot down in flames, the OR is quite generous with the allowance. I think £400 is more than enough for 2 people, if I remember correctly the actual figure is something like £387 for 2 but as I said earlier £400 seems to get accepted 99/100.
