NHS funding private treatment

Hi
I want to know if there is any funding from the NHS for private treatment.
My husband has a health problem and has been referred to our local hospital for investigations with a camera.
Just been back to the GP a couple of months later because they havent sent and appointment only to be told that the consultant that does the investigations has left and there is nobody at the hospital to do the tests.
Dont know how long he will have to wait and it could be something serious.
Can we get private investigations paid for by the NHS as they are not providing what he needs?
Thanks

If the tests are essential, you will be able to get them on the NHS within their prescribed time limits (you will need to ask your GP what these are, as they will vary according to condition). This may be done at a neighbouring NHS hospital, or on an NHS contract at a private facility.
There are instances where the NHS will pay for private treatment outside of an NHS contract, but they are very rare.Gone ... or have I?0 -
It might be worth looking at the NHS Choices website. That'll give you a list of hospitals that you can choose between. It's possible some of them will be private hospitals offering NHS treatment.0

My GP used Choose and Book to find a clinic specialising in my particular knee problem. There were no local NHS ones the nearest is a private hospital so that was where I was seen and will have the relevant surgey all funded by the NHS. I'd go back and ask to be referred somewhere else, your GP should be able to even book the actual appointment.0

Thanks for your advice.
THe good news is that we had a letter from the GP and he had managed to arrange and appointment on the NHS in 2 weeks
Thanks again0
