As far as I am aware there isn't a market for selling unit-linked endowment policies. I believe this is because they are linked to the stock market and their value fluctuates depending upon how the stock market performs which it makes them difficult to re-sell (please correct me if I am wrong).

However, with-profits policies have a guaranteed value made up of the policie's sum assured and attached bonuses, but this value can only be realised by waiting until maturity (I think) and so a market exists for thise people who wish to take the capital out of the policy early.

There are a number of websites that you can use to get a valuation for your policy, the one I am aware of is http://www.policytrader.co.uk, but I am sure there are plenty of others.

unit linked plans have no guaranteed sum assured which is reduced on surrender. They have a daily value instead. Its the guaranteed sum assured that makes conventional with profits plans desirable to some. There is also no second hand market for unitised with profits funds either.
