in Credit cards
Sorry for the daft post but I have a Vanquis, Aqua and Capitalone (The silver one with the white spots) card, which one (If any) looks like a proper card and would be more acceptable to use in shops etc without looking like someone who has (Or had) problems and can't get a proper Credit card.
I myself think its capitalone, but just wondered what everyone else thinks.

I'd never heard of Vanquis etc until I joined this group. So... I reckon the only shop assistants who would recognise it are those who are in the same situation as you... so no problems there.
Anyway, since chip+pin it's rare to hand over your card and I think most assistants don't notice unless it doesn't work.
Else.. yep.. Cap One.0 -
TBH, when I worked in a supermarket (before chip and pin) I hardly noticed what card I had been given unless it had a particularly funky design on it that caught my eye. You could have given me any of the cards you mention and I wouldn't have had a clue about whether they implied you had a chequered credit history or not.
I think that Chatty is right. Most assistants wouldn't notice who the issuer was unless there was a problem with it. With chip and pin, the card is generally not handed across anyway, so I'd use whatever works best for you. Even if you do need to hand it across, the cashier *should* be more interested that the details on the card are correct (checking name, signature, etc) than the company the issued it...No trees were killed to send this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. - Neil deGrasse Tyson (@neiltyson)0 -
Shops assistants don't care what card you are using, they care when their next break is, or how long they have left before they can go home.
Nothing else.0 -
Bit of a daft question mate lol - use whichever one works best for you - and who cares what other people think anyway!
I had a bright pink halifax card previously - people can think all they want!0 -
They all do the same job,i wouldnt be bothered what i was handing over.0

They're all proper credit cards
Do your really thing that shop assistants examine each and every card to see who the customer banks with? What strange places you shop at.
Added to the fact that the majority of people wouldn't even know a Vanquis card was a Vanquis as it's only in teeny tiny letters on the back of the card.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Noone who works in a shop really pays attention to the type of card. I worked in retails for many years. Especially now with chip and pin people do not even look at cards most of the time.TOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0

The only cards that get any sort of attention are the really high net worth ones, such as Coutts or AMEX Black (Centurion).
Even then, if your using Chip and PIN they may not notice.0 -
