Yes you will. It looks like you intend trading, it would be as well to find out some facts before you do so. For VAT and duty HMR&C are your starting point.

The supplier is including the postage in the £1.22. So that should be the handler cost sorted shouldnt it?

It's not the amount each that matters - it's the total value of the consignment.

And no it doesn't sort the handler cost - if they come by mail, Royal Mail add on a handling fee for sorting out the import. If they come by carrier, ditto.

Forgive me, but you do sound a bit naive to be getting involved in this sort of thing
  • Not naive mate - just looking for people who know what they are on about and have past experience then I dont get my fingers burnt. Iv got a list of clients all with much more trading exp than me and therefore I dont want to give them 'too good' of a deal.

Iv got the info I need now anyway.

£1.22 includes my postage so say for examples Im buying 500.

    Its 500 x £1.22 = £610 (Includes postage)
    Import Charge - 6.5% = £649.65
VAT - 15% (Based on all the above) = £747.10

Is that 'import charge' duty, or a fee to someone for handling the import on your behalf?

If the former, it's still possible you'll get stung for the latter. For example:

Any package assessed by HM Revenue and Customs as being liable for Customs charges will also incur a Royal Mail handling fee of £8. The Royal Mail customs handling fee is charged for customs clearance of items in respect of which import duty and/or tax is due. Goods and gifts over these values may also be liable for Customs duty.

if it comes via RM that is
if so be aware RM charge per package so if its not one big box it can soon add up!
  • Im not too worried by the handling fee.

Aslong as I get the orders expected before delivery - then it will be 2 or 3 big boxes - so maybe £8x3 for handling fee.

Not too bad when il be clearing just under £17k profit!! :rotfl::rotfl:
