Don't shop, don't drop

I have noticed that since I have gone broadband the temptation to shop has increased hugely. The worst problem is that you think you are getting a bargain for an item so it becomes a matter of principle, must get it at that price or am missing out. In a lot of respects I think some of the boards on here encourage that. I also think there is the same problem if you sign up to Quico, Greasy Palm etc as you get seduced by the thought of cashback.
I know there will be lots of people posting a response which says, If you don't need it/can't afford it, don't get it, but we live in a material world and it is easy to be caught up in it.
I for one am trying now to turn off the computer before I enter my card details and if I really need it I can always go back later in a day or two. If I never go back, I probably didn't need it.
Sorry for sounding sanctimonious and I do not object to sites which recommend a good bargain; have made use of them and posted a few of my own, but it has been bugging me for a while that sometimes sites which try to save you money can end up costing you if you let yourself be seduced by the thought that you are saving money on somethng you didn't really need.

yes I do agree but I've saved so much money off my shopping since starting on this site that a few extras don't matter. I rarely buy anything as an extra unless it's either under £10 or something I really need.
Obviously the main point of these forums is money making but the comminty aspect is great too.0 -
Hi there, I agree you can save money and I have been grateful for the savings, I just need to get a little less excited by the things I don't need!!0

I think boredom factor comes in to it too. You've got broadband so your usage is paid for, so you have a mooch around the internet, thnking I'll just have a look and before you know it, you're at the online checkout, card in one hand, mouse in the other!
Just say NO!Wealth is not measured by currency0
