The DWP Recruitment Freeze

I was very concerned to read that the DWP have "frozen" recruitment till October. What exactly does this mean for all those who have passed AO boards and are having their checks done, and are awaiting the "call" to start work? Will they be affected, and will their applications be (Heaven forbid!) be struck out all together, necessitating them having to reapply all over again?
Any advice or news on this worrying "Recruitment Freeze" would be really appreciated.
Thanks.

I think they are waiting until October to see how the current newbies are dealing with all the work and if the current economic situation has changed by then and then they'll decide if they need to take more people on.
It may also be a question of waiting til everybody has settled in to their jobs and then seeing how much physical space there are to put any new people (ie desks, computers etc).
After that, they should draw their next lot of new staff from the current waiting list. I doubt they'd go down the route of starting recruitment all over again.0 -
