Possibly a training exercise? Or maybe it's something to do with the RAF leaving Aldergrove.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

Taliban training camp in South Armagh0

They've probably been training in the Republic too. As far as I recall, during the Iraq war the RAF and Royal Navy were ordered to defend the Republic should any terrorist atrocity take place. There was some threat at the time because American planes were allowed to refuel in the South.0

I've been hearing them as well, I must be quite near you, OP.
Ah well, it makes a change from hearing the police helicopters over the Kilwilkee riots.*insert witty comment here*0 -

hope things don't get as bad as this, sending poison gas over the border :-
Irish parliment debate 1938
Mr. Corry: I am absolutely against that policy. I believe that this country, which has made so many sacrifices in order to clear out its enemies, is worth defending. I believe it is worth while building up here a defence force which will be strong enough for other purposes, because we may have very different views as to how we are going to complete the independence of this nation of 32 counties. We may have very widely divergent views as to how it is going to be done. I personally am in favour of storing up sufficient poison gas, so that when you get the wind in the right direction you an start at the Border and let it travel, and folIow it.
An Ceann Comhairle: This poison gas is not relevant to the debate.
Mr. Corry: I am speaking of the ways and means by which we can finish the job which we set our hands to in 1916.0 -
they were harriers doing a fly-by at Aldergrove. There was a big event up there today as the RAF are leaving.
My kids had a great time watching out the bedroom windows lol;)0 -
Wing Commander Harvey Smyth DFC was flying one of the Harriers today. He also did the fly-past at the ceremony for the WWII pilot at Lough Erne during the week.
He's originally from a village in Co. Armagh, so sometimes when he's passing overhead, he'll do a special something for the 'folks back home'.
Today, I think he must have done 3 passes over this area with the other two planes. All the locals came out to watch, saying "That'll be Harvey!".0
