Recycling Kodak Inkjet cartridges

I am just in the process of setting-up a recycling scheme for my kids' school PTA, including mobile phones and ink cartridges. Some companies will only take specific brands but the one I selected, for eco-credentials, will take ANY cartridge off our hands even if we make no money from it, at least it gets recycled - kids have to learn it's not just about money.

They don't take Kodak. I bought a Kodak printer recently & am now regretting it as I can't find anywhere that will take them. I really hate the idea of throwing empty cartridges into landfill.0 -

Same here. I've been looking all over, but I'm going to just have to bin them. Don't Kodak have a duty to offer a recycling progrram themselves?0 -
Hi all
I believe Sense (The registered charity for deafblind children & adults) recycle the kodak cartridges.
The address to send them to is:
The Recycling Centre
Freepost SEA 0216.
Chatham
Kent
ME5 8UD
Thanks, Zoe.0 -
I tried Sense and followed a link to 'The Recycling Factory' - I called the freephone number and a helpful young lady advised that they could not take my series 30 cartridges - but then I said that I wanted to donate them to charity rather than bin them and after checking she said that they could accept them on that basis. She is going to send me some envelopes.
Good news at last.:j
Not allowed to post web address so suggest that you Google The Recycling Factory + Sense0 -
The SENSE envelopes ask for only HP, Lexmark, Dell and Canon and they are sent freepost to The Recycling Factory.
I just e-mailed Recycling Factory to check situation and they said they do deffinitely accept Kodak on behalf of charity and told me to use the SENSE charity envelopes for Kodak!0 -
I have found this website:
http://charityinks.co.uk/news/news-updated-list-of-ink-cartridges-that-can-be-recycled
I just clicked on one of the charities listed at the side and printed off the lable. They recycle the Kodak 10 cartridges.0 -
Just found this on the Kodak website:
Where can I recycle my KODAK Ink Cartridges?
Our ink cartridges are made mainly of plastics and become non-hazardous wastes when empty. They should not be discarded with unsorted household wastes. They may be placed in the segregated domestic waste streams along with other uncontaminated plastic wastes for suitable treatment.
Alternatively, cartridges may be put in a suitable container and posted to Kodak for recycling at:
Kodak Limited Cartridge Collections
Headstone Drive
Harrow HA1 4TY
No money is raised for charity this way, but at least it avoids landfill...0 -

Thanks for this. The pdf of the freepost label is here.
Ensure you check your settings and select actual size rather than fit to page or you'll get an A4 label. Actual size is less than A5 and prints in the middle of a landscape piece of paper -- perfect for me as I am using up redundant headed paper!0 -
You might be interested in the Refresh cartridges website (search for 'Refresh ink cartridge recycling', as I'm not allowed to post the URL).
Quote:
"Literally any Inkjet Cartridge can be returned to the address above including those originally manufactured by Brother, Canon, Dell, Epson, HP, Kodak and Lexmark"
However they also say:
"Cartridges which don’t include the printer head (most Brother, Epson and Kodak cartridges) are typically worthless so in most instances we will simply recycle them and no donation will be made to charity."
They strip down the Kodak cartridges and recycle the parts. I buy recycled Kodak cartridges from that same company (Refresh), which makes me wonder how they can sell recycled cartridges if they can't be recycled. Seems contradictory!0
