Went to my local B&Q in Bamber Bridge to buy some more Space Blanket loft insulation at the offer price of £5 a roll (had bought some during the week) only to find price had gone back up to £13.98. Was gutted until an assistant pointed out some king size rolls of the same product which are the same length but 3 times as wide and on offer at £12.98. Even better, when I got to the till, the lady pointed out that the king size rolls are on BOGOF! There wasn't a huge amount of stock, and there was no BOGOF sign on the stock, so grabbit quick!

We bought some of this stuff for our loft... got it from Wickes on BOGOF. It's still on offer according to this web page. 2 rolls for £11.98 and, looking on both B&Q and Wickes website, it's the same stuff.

I bought a wad of this last weekend in Glasgow, £5 a go. Pretty good stuff with the wrapper on it to contain the insulation. Sure it was still £5 last Wednesday night when i went back for some more stuff.0

Speaking as someone who actually installs loft insulation as a living, the space blanket is only any good if you have a REALLY tiny loft (e.g. less than 20 square metres).
And ideally you want 2 lays. The first layer between the joists and the second in the opposite direction to the first, so that every inch is covered.
Space blanket might be nice to work with, but it doesn't 'butt up' end to end correctly and leaves pockets of air/gaps at it's edges.
Better to get one of the insulation companies to install it on there £100 per house deal which they do at least twice a year now.
And the recommended total thickness should be between 250 and 270 mm in total.

Dont forget B&Q price match and give a further 10% off, of the difference. So further savings to be had. But just a reminder, if you are on certain benefits or over 70 you can get this done for free, i know as both my parents who are over 70 have had theirs done for free. This also includes cavity wall insulation. HTH0
