Virgin Vie - worth it?

Ok I'm considering different ways to supplement my part time income, especially now I'm a full time student. Can anyone give their views on Virgin Vie - for or against and why?

I did this for a while about a year ago and in my experince you will need a wide circle of friends etc, as the range changes quite often and the only way for you to have the 'current trends' is to hit the sale targets for the month. (need to do at least 4/5 parties to meet this). If you have a limited circle of friends or access to wider market then could be good little earner for christmas, ie do few months up to christmas when you can get products us gifts etc, and at end you will have lots of produts to either use/gits/sell! I earned a small amount but saved so much more on cosmetic and costs of gifts for friends and families. hope that helps.
Making small changes, hoping they will last....
  • Thanks, that does help. I know there is an investment involved, but I am wary of spending my money and not making any kind of profit with this.

I don't have a wide circle of friends unfortunately, so for now maybe I'll explore Ebay a bit more....

I looked into virgin vie but there initial kit seems expensive.
Why not try BSAH? There kit is £40 (according to website) Most people love there stuff. Or Ann Summers, no initial outlay but you rent the kit at £3.50 p/w

Lol ive looked into a lot of them for myself. Started up with Avon and hopefully either Partylite or a jewellery one - maybe all of them lmao!!!

Friend of mine tried this for a while. She has a LOT of friends but found it a struggle. Very popular lass and lots of people came to her parties but not many bought, she found. They just came along for the party!

I'm sure other people make it work though and will be along to tell their stories and give tips etc.

I took this on earlier this year, more for a bit of extra pocket money rather than as a business.
I did ok out of catalogue drops ie dropping the catalogues into banks, solicitors etc and collecting the orders in, from friends & family and the odd party but these things soon dry up. I do find their p&p v expensive too - £5.25 slow (my order took 10 working days which customers weren't happy with) and express £7.25 which is 4 days guaranteed - very expensive. Its worked for me for what I wanted it for ie a few extra pennies & for some free homeware stuff (I was more interesting in the homeware than the cosmetics etc!). Good company but not something I'm interesting in continuing with - the expenses are too high (in my opinion) unless youre really really going for it.

  • Hi

I've looked at a few DSA organisations too and finally settled on Miglio Designer Jewellery. Whilst the initial outlay was more than a few other companies I felt the return was better and most importantly I LOVE the jewellery.

I would suggest that you opt for an opportunity that appeals to you - if make-up is your thing then go for that, if candles light up your life get into partylite, but for me bling is the big appeal so Miglio was fabulous!

You can earn a good living in these organisations (I've become a group manager in less than 2 years), but you have to work at it to earn serious money. I also have a lot of consultants though that do one or two parties a month to earn roughly £100 - £300 so it depends on what you want to do.

A lot of party plan organisations also let you sell at events where you can raise funds for charities/organisations so it is another avenue to explore.

Whatever you decide - make sure you enjoy it :-)
  • Hi DebtFreeASAP :)
I have done Virgin Vie,(now just known as Vie), and absolutely loved it at the time :D
Presently I am involved with The Body Shop at Home - the reason I switched was simply because of their values which are very important to me :)
I do find my sales higher because the name is bigger and the products are at a lower price and customers tend to buy more because they are getting more for their money :) A lot of customers also like the fact that TBSAH work very hard on their values such as helping farmers all over the world earn a fair wage for their products,(the ingredients in our products).
It goes without saying that I absolutely love, love, love this company and I'm very happy with it :)
I was on facebook last night and 2 ladies requested and booked parties with me without me asking if they wanted one which was fab :)
As Moonbeam suggests find a company that sells products that appeal to you - you'll enjoy selling them, will sell more and most companies put on incentives for their consultants to earn free products so it makes sense for you to be involved in a company that you can earn free products that you love :D
And yes it is just 40 pound to join Body Shop and the kit is yours to keep :)
Good luck and welcome to the wonderful world of Party Plan :)
    Jenny x :)
Everything happens for a reason :)
  • I tried selling Virgin stuff, and while the products are great, I found it too difficult to get parties. Amittedly I'm not very good at self-promoting, but with the cost of postage etc I found I just wasn't making anything.
  • have you looked at party plan together? There are lots of agents from different companies on there including Vie at Home who might be able to help.

If I were you I would be tempted by pheonix trading. ( I have nothing to do with them, but you can put the books out and not need samples of shades etc!)
