Paying the EWSA

Hi
The ex-wife support agency seem relucatant to let me pay by my preferred method of standing order. They say there are two options - direct debit or a deduction from earnings order.
I like neither of these options. So, if I refuse to pay by direct debit is there a hidden option to pay by standing order?
I intend to write to my MP to highlight how the CSA extort money by using blackmail and threatening behaviour. But that is for another day. Right now, I just want to set up the monthly payments by standing order.
It is not direct debits that I have a problem - I have quite a few but only to trusted comapies like BT, EON, Sky TV and the like. My experience of the EWSA does not give me the assurance that I can trust them to get it right. And I do not like to rely on guarantees such as that afforded by the DD scheme.
I assume their preference for DD is based on similar beliefs and desires as my preference for SO.

Hi there,
My husband was being bullied by the CSA telling him the same as you were told re payment options. ( had been paying by their giro slips up until then and they refused to send more out)
They then eventually backed down after realising as he was SE they couldn't do a DOE!
They then eventually sent out a S.O mandate with all details neeed to set up the S.O ( accompanied by a rude letter! )
I've heard that alot of other people have set up a S.O, after being told that it's "DD or nothing" and there is nothing they can do about it once they have the 1st payment.
I have all the details from the mandate they sent last month if you want me to pass them onto you. once you have set one up, you just ring them and tell them ( my husband loved doing that part!):EasterBun0 -
Yes please Angel. That would be great.
Thank you so much.

no problem GG, I have PM'd you with the details. let me know if you don't get it, have never done it before.
Good luck:EasterBun0 -
We had similar problem, my hubs self-employed, and after CSA looked into his bank accounts, made huge assumptions about some credits etc etc, my hubby closed all of his remaining bank accounts.
So, then, where did we go in relation to paying child support, my hubs (NRP) has always pledged that he wanted to pay CSA money, but CSA kept on saying it had to be DD, SO etc, they even suggested he set up such from my bank account instead, if he no longer had a bank account!!!
In the end, hubs kept on asking for pay in Giro slips, we involved MP and eventually this is how we now pay each week - across Post Office, or bank counter, and keep all slips!0 -

Not sure why this question keeps popping up, remember whilst there is a delay getting payment sorted, the more argument they have for deo or dd, anyways

Are you CSA1 or CSA2? I can give you info if you are CSA1 but not 2 sorry. Above is not correct for CSA1 by the way. Your payment will go missing, have to be searched for and manually allocated.0

CRANKY40, the above details ARE correct for my standing order to the CSA as far as the bank sort code, account number & payment to "CSA CLIENT FUND" are concerned & I am on CS1.Are you CSA1 or CSA2? However, when I set my SO up, I was told by the CSA not to use my NI number as a reference, but to use my ten figure CSA reference number plus add on 01 at the end
Example: 222222222201
I set this up in 5 minutes online with my bank & I've had no problems at all ever since (approx. 3 to 4 years).Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. Debt at highest approx £102,000. Debt now (October 2009 - absolutely fork all!!!)

Any delay is of their making. I advised them from the outset (2 x months ago) that I wished to pay by standing order. It is their faiilure to provide account details that prevents me from paying.
I will not dance to their tune. I have never liked bullies and I feel like a victim of state-sponsored theft as it is.

You're right, it's the references quoted that are different, the sort code and account number are the same. For CSA1 your info is right, so I assume that the national insurance number is the CSA2 info.0 -
Well, despite my desire to pay by standing order, I have today been informed that a deo was sent to my employer yesterday.
Do they need my consent or a court order to deduct earnings? (ETA: Apparently not).
My next step is to write to my MP but what if I set up the SO today? Would that change things?
Thanks all.
ETA: Spoke to a supervisor - insists that the only options are (in order of their preference):
1. sort out yourself between parents
2. DD
3. DEO
I insist that I will pay by standing order. In return, I will clear the arrears (caused by them not assessing the case quickly enough and refusing to provide account details for a standing order) over the phone today.
... awaiting a call back.
