sorry not quite the best place to post this but i am quite happy this morning
im trying really hard for the 1st time in my life to save for something and i have fineally had some luck with Freecycle, this sunday we are going to collect a double buggy for when baby is here chuffed as we had just scraped enough to go buggy hunting this weekend for one so i can put my 90.00 quid to something else now

I've been keeping an eye out for your double buggy fund and seeing how you're going - so that's brilliant!!
What you going to use the money for? Baby related stuff?

im really not sure now, had you have asked me this before my lightbulb moment i may have said a hundred and one different things but truthfully off top of my head at the moment there is nothing essential i need for the baby now that i do not already have (i wanted crib sheets but have decided an ordinary cot sheet folded in half will do just the same job and can be used in main cot afterwards)

so i guess i will just keep saveing there maybe something i have to buy one day and the money would then be used for that

I know what you mean- before lightbulb there were loads of things I 'needed' but now I don't get that so much! Wish it had gone completely though

Don't know if this will be of any help but did you know you can claim a 500 pound grant when you have a baby? I claimed it whan I was on maternity leave with my youngest who is now 4, but was talking to a mate yesterday who is going to be a grandmother soon and it is still available. It doesn't matter if you are both working or not or even if you claim benefits, it is available to all, but does not appear to be common knowledge, I only discovered it by accident whilst looking up banefits to claim when I was in the library - just a thought.

the sure start grant? its only avalable to familys under a certain income, we dont recieve enough child tax credit to get this sadly it has to be a higher rate than i get.
