Notice of Default!

hi everyone,
today i received a default notice from my car insurers saying i'm late with a payment when i specifically wrote to them asking for a new direct debit form as i've recently changed bank accounts.
They now issue me with this default notice demanding payment and on top of that they want to charge me £25.00 to cover their administration charges! is this an illegal charge?
what should i do?

I personally would ring them up, point out that it their error and insist that they refund the 25 pounds charge, threaten to take your custom elsewhere because their administration is so appallingly lax.0
