Hi all,
Is there some kind and knowing soul out there who can look at my CV and tell me what I am doing wrong? I have been off work for ten yrs looking after my dad, but he died in April and when I used to work it was applications now everyone wants CV's and I have no idea I have looked on the web and made one but it looks so plain/ empty! I am not that old but I want to go back to work and think this is stopping me! I would be so grateful
Thank you

hi there, sorry no direct help im afraid but maybe you could try searching for some local groups in your area that help people with that or your jobcentre could advise you who could help? im sure they will be connected to groups for that, i am working with a group called workable but im not sure if that is just local to me. i was terrified and didnt have a clue but i have been told that employers now look at carer's in the same way they view volunteers. i havent worked for 5 years through illness and for the past year i got into volunteering gradually building up to doing 4 days a week and now im looking for part time work. i think if you can show you have been doing something then that is ok. id certainly hope this is true anyway. sorry couldnt help more with the cv bit but i think some people have mentioned websites on other posts that might help....

Have you written a covering letter? That is at least as important as the CV, if not more so, especially when you have a different range of skills and experience to the average person. The 'Brilliant' range of books (Pearson Prentice Hall) on careers includes a CV book (Bright and Earl) which is very good. You might find this in your local library.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
