i only got free lunch when i worked in catering and it was limited to certain foods. my department was contracted to work in a big accountacy firm in london and they wouldnt even subsidise the food for their employers.
the only time they got free lunch was if they had to have meetings

I've never had free lunch at work...and I've never heard of anyone outside catering who does. You were very lucky to have this in the first place IMO.0
