Hi all,
This diary is mainly so I can vent and keep all my thoughts and stuff in one place!
Brief history - I'm 25 with a nearly 4 year old boy.
I was in a job for the last 8 years and made redundant in August.
I am £17250 in debt  and I only bring in £550 a month in benefits now
So, I called CCCS the other day and have a phone appt with them in the beginning of Oct - they advised me to send token payments to my creditors.
Today I cancelled all my direct debits, and wrote letters to my creditors with a postal order of £1 to each (really pee'd off that you have to pay 50p extra per postal order )
I have a new account now, which I have got my benefits being payed into.
Two of my debts are ones that need to be payed each month without fail - HP on car
- HMRC overpayments
So I bring in £550 a month - my outgoings are £1150  hahahaha what the hell am I supposed to do with that?!? They are essential outgoings too.
Hey ho - such is life. Looking forward to my CCCS appt and seeing what they will advise next.
Cheers for reading

Did you have PPI cover on any of the cards or loans?
Would you be able to keep up the car and HMRC payments using any redundancy money? After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0
Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/20110 -
Hi George,
I never took any PPI on anything as I then wouldn't have been able to afford the monthly payments. Silly I know, but these debts were taken out a few years ago before any hint of recession etc... thought I would be ok without it!
I have enough redundancy money left to pay my essential bills and secure debt in October, but not enough to pay my unsecured debts. Hopefully the creditors will accept my token payments now I am dealing with CCCS.
Just need to find a job, even part time to make up the shortfall for essentials each month!0 -
I bought my car insurance on satuday - £236 from Co-Operative, they were the cheapest place I could find. Plus I got £60 cashback as I went through Quidco :j
I now have £64.50 on quidco, so once the Co-Op have been validated etc, I can hopefully get some spondoolies!!
I also sold my old mobile to Simply Drop for £55, so that should come through soon hopefully.
I paid off one of my CTC overpayments - £271. My redundancy money is pretty much all gone now!
Now I am trying to work out ways to earn enough cash to make sure I can pay my essentials for October, got a few books, dvds, cds I can stick on Amazon. So that might be around £10 or £20 there.
Off to get my son ready for nursery now (something which I am now going to reduce as it is SOOO expensive!!)
Bye for now
