Mortgage where previous owners are bankrupt - some info needed

Hi,

I'm in the process of buying a house at the moment. The mortgage process seems to be going smoothly so far, and am waiting on the solicitors getting things sorted.

It seems that at least one of the couple was declared bankrupt, and the trust on her behalf is an accountancy and bankruptcy firm.

I had a slight worry that will my credit rating be affected at all through association of living at that address as obviously the previous owners had serious financial problems. I don't really know anything about it as I don't know the people other than being shown round the house.

I would hope their problems will have nothing to do with me, but I wanted to check if anyone has any information on whether the address will make me associated with their problems. Up to now, I have no bad credit that I know of.

Thanks,

Graham.

You won't be associated with them. Credit is based on the individual not the address.
  • Thanks - Good to know :-)

You'll just get constant debt collectors letters for the old tennants and may as i do get most of the local taxi firms refuse to pick up from that address because the previous tennant was passing on dodgy £20 notes:rolleyes:
